Our Process
Our typical design process is outlined in more detail below, however we can custom tailor our process and deliverables based on your individual project needs.
Step 1: Project Programming
Step 2: Concept Plan(s)
Step 3: Design Development
Step 4: Construction Documents/Deliverables

The first step in the process begins with a consultation with the client to better understand their project goals, timeline and budget. Once a program is in place the work can begin. Depending on the size and scope of your project, a topographic survey may be needed. In this stage we also visit your project site and take photos, site measurements and notes as needed in preparation for the second step.
Once we have all of the required project information, we can begin creating a concept plan(s). This plan may either be hand-drawn or computer rendered, but it graphically illustrates the design intent for the project. Usually these are "big picture" concepts relating to the overall structure of the design and will not be detailed until later on. Once an agreed upon concept is reached, we move on to the next step.
After a concept has been selected and approved, we move into the design development phase. During this process we refine the concept plan and begin thinking about all of the elements of the design holistically and start to prepare the entire design package. During this stage the client can also opt for a 3D model of the project. While this option doesn't fall within everyone's budget, it is an excellent tool to visualize the end product.
During this step we prepare the final design, construction document set and any other agreed upon deliverables for the final submission. Depending on the scope of the project our set could include a site/grading plan, planting plan, lighting plan, irrigation plan, construction details, rendered site plan, 3D model/still images and more. The plans we create will be used by the landscape contractor to bid and build the project.
Step 5: Optional-Construction Observation

Once we have submitted our final deliverables to the client they may wish for us to stay and help guide them during the construction phase of the project. We can assist with the bidding and landscape contractor selection process. Once construction starts, we will visit the job site and work with the landscape contractor to ensure the project is being done correctly, on time and on budget.
